EDI connectivity for suppliers of Mexico's retail chains

Receive your retailers' purchase orders and invoice with the addenda each one validates, from your ERP. We set up the connection over AS2, EDI service bureau, Web Service or SFTP.

Implemented with our team. Start with one retailer and add the rest when you need them.

The messages in your order-to-cash cycle

Each retailer chooses which messages it uses and what it calls them. These are the most common, with their EANCOM and ANSI X12 names.

MessageSent byWhat it is for
ORDERS · 850Purchase orderThe retailerWhich products, how many units, at what cost and which store or distribution center to deliver to.
ORDRSP · 855Order responseYouYou accept, change or reject lines before shipping. Few retailers in Mexico require it.
DESADV · 856Ship notice (ASN)YouWhat is on each pallet and in each case, with its GS1-128 label (SSCC), before you reach the dock.
RECADV · 861Receiving adviceThe retailerWhat the distribution center or store actually received. Your invoice is matched against this receipt.
INVOIC · 810InvoiceYouIn Mexico it is always a stamped CFDI, with the addenda or complement the retailer requires.
REMADV · 820Remittance adviceThe retailerWhich invoices were paid, on what date and which discounts or charges were applied.
CONTRL · APERAK · 997AcknowledgmentsBothThey confirm the message arrived and could be read. APERAK also accepts or rejects its content.

Before paying, the retailer matches its purchase order, its receiving advice and your invoice. If they differ, the invoice is held. With EDI, all three come from the same data.

What each retailer requires

Each page explains which messages the retailer uses, through which channel, what its addenda carries and how we set it up.

We also set up Costco, Coppel, Casa Ley, Alsuper, Tiendas 3B, The Home Depot and other retailers. If yours isn't listed, request a quote with its name and guide.

* Logos and trade names belong to their respective owners. They are shown only to identify each retailer's requirements; their use does not imply a business relationship, sponsorship or endorsement by those companies.

Standards and transport

The standard defines how the message is written and the transport, how it travels. Each retailer sets both in its guide.

Standards

EANCOM
The subset of UN/EDIFACT that GS1 maintains for retail. It identifies products, stores and pallets with GTIN, GLN and SSCC. Walmart de México uses EDIFACT.
ANSI X12
The United States standard, with numbered transactions (850, 856, 810). Used by retailers and buyers headquartered there.
GS1 Mexico XML
The AMECE structures, such as the 7.1 addenda and APERAK, and the SAT Detallista complement, which uses version 8.1.
Proprietary XML or CSV
Formats used by a single retailer, such as Soriana's Remisión Electrónica, which travels inside its addenda.

Transport

AS2
Direct, encrypted server-to-server exchange, with each party's certificates and a signed receipt (MDN) that proves delivery.
EDI service bureau
A value-added network (VAN) that receives and delivers messages for you. It works like a mailbox between companies.
Web Service
The retailer receives your CFDI with addenda on its web service and replies at once whether it is accepted, as Soriana does.
SFTP
File exchange over a secure channel. Some retailers and logistics operators define it in their manuals.

What we do for each connection

You keep selling and shipping. We handle the technical work with each retailer.

  1. 01

We review what the retailer requires

We agree with you on messages, standard, transport and the data that comes out of your ERP.

  2. 02

We set up the connection and testing

AS2, EDI bureau, Web Service or SFTP, tested until the retailer approves production.

  3. 03

    We connect your ERP

Orders, notices and invoices flow in and out of your system by API, flat file or Excel. Invoices are stamped with the retailer's addenda.

  4. 04

    We operate and follow up

We review acknowledgments and rejections, and tell you why when a message doesn't arrive or comes back.

EDI questions

What sales, logistics and accounts receivable teams ask before connecting with a retailer.

Ask an advisor
What is EDI and why does my customer require it?

EDI (electronic data interchange) is the exchange of business documents between systems, in a format both companies agreed on: purchase orders, ship notices, invoices and remittance advice. Retailers require it because they handle a high volume of documents and need to process them without manual entry.

If I already invoice with an addenda, do I also need EDI?

It depends on the retailer. Soriana, for example, receives the invoice with its addenda on a Web Service. Walmart de México requires an EDIFACT message inside the addenda and sends its orders and remittance advice over EDI. Chedraui only sends orders over EDI. Each retailer's page explains what it requires.

What is the difference between AS2 and an EDI service bureau?

With AS2, your system and the retailer's connect directly, with certificates and signed receipts. With an EDI service bureau (also called a VAN), an intermediary receives and delivers the messages for you. Some retailers accept both; we choose with you based on your volume and what the guide requires.

How does it connect to my ERP?

Purchase orders are converted to a format your system already reads (API, flat file, CSV or Excel), and your notices and invoices come from the data your ERP already has. It works with SAP, Oracle, CONTPAQi or an in-house system.

How much does an EDI connection cost?

It depends on how many retailers you connect, which messages you use and your volume. After a discovery call we send you a quote. Invoices are stamped with your Factura Digital folios and addendas are included in Premium.

How long does implementation take?

Much of the time depends on each retailer's testing calendar. Once we review its implementation guide, we give you a plan with dates for each stage.

Can I start with a single retailer?

Yes. You can start with the retailer that requires it and add the others later, with the same connection and the same ERP.
